Music Business Hub publishes plain-language educational material for independent artists, songwriters, producers, managers, and other music-business participants. The site explains concepts, points readers to primary authorities, and provides planning tools; it is not a law firm, accounting firm, collection society, or substitute for advice from a licensed professional.

The site is authored and maintained by Michael Ruiz, a former Los Angeles recording engineer and web developer. His professional background informs the practical focus of the project, but it does not replace legal review by a qualified attorney.

Guides should identify the legal authority, government agency, collection organization, or platform documentation used to develop material that could affect a creator's rights, money, or obligations. The public source index stores stable source records with the publisher, jurisdiction, URL, and review state.

• Primary authorities are preferred for statutes, regulations, court decisions, and official program rules.
• Operational guidance from a collection society or platform is identified separately from binding law.
• A citation string or source URL is an evidence lead, not proof that every sentence on a page has been verified.
• Jurisdiction, effective date, contract language, and individual facts can change the result. Readers should check the linked authority and obtain current advice for a real matter.

Each Markdown guide has frontmatter for its editorial state, last-edited date, source IDs, citation records, and a reader-answer checklist. The build process turns that content into the public guide and checks that source IDs, citation records, and required reader answers are structurally valid.

• verified: reviewed against the recorded sources by a named reviewer on a recorded date.
• blocked: held back from being treated as reliable because a source, claim, or material issue needs resolution.

Before a guide can pass the strict content gate, it must answer five reader questions in visible page content: what is the direct answer, who is this for, what is a practical example, what are the limits or exceptions, and what should the reader do next. These fields make the intended value explicit; they do not replace source review or professional advice.

We welcome corrections, updated authorities, broken source links, and reports that a tool or explanation is unclear. Email contact@musicbusinesshub.com with the page URL, the exact claim or calculation, the relevant jurisdiction, and a source supporting the proposed correction.

Submissions are reviewed by the editorial maintainer. When a material issue is confirmed, the page is corrected, its lastEditedAt value is updated, and its review state may be returned to needs-review until the revised claims are checked. A correction request is not automatically a finding that the original text was wrong.

Scripts may help build the Markdown content index, search data, diagrams, structured metadata, and audit reports. Automation can identify missing fields or broken relationships, but it cannot establish that a legal proposition is correct. Published guides remain subject to human editorial review, and no guide is marked verified solely because an automated check passes.
